Each of these unique handbags is made from natural fiber (bulrush) — a natural fiber that grows around the lakes of southern Mexico. Local artisans carefully cut, dry, and weave the natural fiber by hand, shaping it into the charming animal figures that make every piece truly one of a kind.

This centuries-old technique is now at risk of disappearing, as younger generations leave rural communities and only a few elder artisans remain who still master this delicate craft.
